December 14, 2020: We are a learning community supporting full citizenship for people with intellectual disabilities through agency, system, and societal change.
Since 2015, FPTC has existed as both a collaborative and a project, supported by the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) for broad-based and direct support to Developmental Services agencies, family advocacy groups, and others who share our vision for a world in which individuals with intellectual disabilities are welcomed and included as fully valued citizens. This has included a series of sold-out annual learning exchanges, presented in a conference format each winter or spring in Toronto.
Following the 2020 learning exchange that concluded on March 6, the onset of the pandemic has accelerated the desire among the Developmental Services sector for changes that will support people with intellectual disabilities to live more included lives in their own communities. The FPTC leadership group has been working with David Chalmers to determine the role of FPTC going forward, and we are now exploring this more broadly with our sector colleagues and networks, beginning with an online event in late January 2021.
More details will follow shortly, but at this time, we ask that you simply email info@fptc.ca indicating your interest in learning about about From Presence To Citizenship and we will be sure to include you in future communications.
You can learn more about the history of FPTC from our Facebook page (no Facebook account is required to view the page) and you can also join our Facebook group (account required).
